legal drinking age
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

I know the legal drinking age has been set at 18 for good reasons, but personally i think it should be lowered to 16. At the age of 16 you are said to be responsible enough to begin getting your drivers liscense, this is a huge responsiblity. If you are responsible enough to drive and be trusted not to hurt others on the road then why can't people drink at 16. When drinking you have a larger chance of harming yourself then harming others whereas driving it is much easier to hurt other drivers and pedestrians. Some people say this could cause a problem to teens parents if they disagree with it, but you are legally allowed to leave your house at 16. Teenagers under the age of 18 still can get alcohol and still do drink but most do it behind their parents backs, sometimes this results in them not wanting to go home because they are intoxicated and some end up getting hurt staying somewhere which isn't safe or staying outside to get away from going home. If the legal age was 16 then many more teenagers would feel more comfortable going home and facing their parents if they were intoxicated.
